Welcome to Brentor Church!

Welcome to the website for the Parish of Brent Tor! Based around the villages of North and South Brentor, our parish also covers West Blackdown and Liddaton. We are part of the Church of England, in the Diocese of Exeter, and are closely linked to the churches of St Eustachius in Tavistock and St Paul in Gulworthy as members of the Benefice and the Tavy Mission Community.

Brent Tor has two churches – our official Parish Church is St Michael de Rupe, an iconic 12th century church on top of the Tor; we also have Christ Church, in the village of North Brentor.

St Paul writes, ‘neither death nor life… nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’

Both churches are open daily for private prayer; and there are services in the parish every week:

Christ Church – 10am every Sunday

St Michael’s – 6pm every Sunday until September

However, if you are unable to attend for any reason, we are still recording one service a week and posting them on this website – and you are very welcome to join us virtually!

You can access our streamed services here.

The pastoral ministry of the Church continues; speaking words of hope to those who are going through difficult times.

+ + +

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Psalm 23

The Church in Brent Tor is a small, friendly and thriving community, with regular events as well as weekly services at one or both of our churches.

When public services were suspended, we started recording services with the absolute minimum number of people, and broadcasting them. We have continued to do so now we’re meeting together again, and you can view them here.

Take a look around the site to find out more about us and what we do.

If you have any questions, queries or comments, please let us know!
